After downloading a Brief EnCounter update, the first time it is opened, you may be prompted to allow access to your Documents folder and/or Desktop folder:
Click OK to the above.
You may also be prompted to select and open the data file as below:
Click Open to the above.
A window similar to below will be displayed allowing you to browse to and select the data file to open. Click the Applications folder on the sidebar as shown:
Browse to the following folder:
Applications > Brief EnCounter
Select the Brief EnCounter.4dd (OR Brief EnCounter.data) file as shown above and click "Open".
TIP:
If you do not see your Applications folder in Finder, it can be viewed in the Finder sidebar as below:
Open Finder from the dock.
From the top menu bar click Finder and select Preferences from the drop down.
Then select the "Sidebar" option.
From there you can select what shows up in the Finder sidebar.
Check the "Applications" option and it will start showing up in the Finder sidebar:
