A matter that will have trust funds deposited must have a trust account associated with it. It the firm has only a single trust account, it will be assigned by default to every matter. If the firm has multiple trust accounts, then the appropriate trust account must be assigned to the matter.
To assign a trust account:
From the Brief Accounting home screen, select the Client module > Matter tab:
In the Search for File/Matter(s) dialog box, enter the File No and click OK:
Enter the Trust Account number in the Bank Acct field and click Accept:
Tip: In the Bank Acct field, type the letter "t" and click the tab key on your keyboard. A list of trust accounts is displayed allowing one to be selected.
Once a trust receipt has been posted to the matter, the trust account assigned to the matter cannot be changed.
